With „Lichtraum“ the renowned Kammerchor Hannover attempted an intriguing juxtaposition of J.S. Bachs famous Motetten with contemporary re-compositions of these choral masterpieces by swedish composer J. Sandstørm. Asked to visualize this juxtaposition, picturenotations of Bach´s Motetten were used to drive the animation, whereas sound recordings of Sandstørm´s Motetten were used to created the actual visuals, fed through variations of pixel shift and pixel sorting algorithms.
The visuals were played live, alongside Kammerchor and Kammerorchester Hannover, while touring baroque churches in Northern Germany, the baroque spaces to colliding with contemporary visual light and expanding the classical concert setting towards an immersive experience.
